Hi, how can we help you?

Charms & Stacking

Will this charm fit my chain?

Depends on the system. ORA charms come in four types, and they don't mix.

  • Glide & Stack Charms slide onto our Slider Necklace or Slider Bracelet and lock into place. Stack them with other Glide & Stack Charms only.

  • Clip Charms open with a clasp. Clip onto our Paperclip Chain, thread onto our Curb Chain, or wear on any classic chain you already own. Stack with other Clip Charms only.

  • Single Hoop Charms slide onto any hoop earrings you already own, up to 2.2mm thick, no clip or clasp needed.

Still unsure? Check the Charm Compatibility Guide or send us a photo of your chain and we'll confirm before you order.

Can I mix Glide & Stack with Clip Charms?

Not on the same piece. They're built on different mechanisms, so they won't lock or clip together. Most of our clients build one stack in each system rather than mixing.

What's the difference between the two charm systems?

Glide & Stack is our silicone-lined slider system, designed for a clean, seamless stack that won't slip out of place. Clip Charms use a traditional clasp, so you can add and remove them freely and wear them on chains you already own. Both are designed to be added to over time. Most collections start with one and grow from there.

Can I get a charm made with a different mechanism?

Yes. If you'd prefer a charm with the Clip fitting instead of the Glide & Stack (ball) fitting, or the other way around, just let us know when you order and we'll switch it for you at no extra charge. One thing worth knowing beforehand: Clip Charms are the larger of the two, sitting closer to 12mm, while Glide & Stack charms sit closer to 8mm, so the size will look slightly different depending on which mechanism you choose.

How big are ORA charms?

It varies by design, but as a general guide, Clip Charms run close to 12mm and Glide & Stack charms, as well as hoop charms, run close to 8mm. Check the exact dimensions on each product page before you order, especially if you're planning to mix charms into an existing stack.

Materials & Quality

What is ORA jewellery made from?

Sterling silver, 18ct gold plating (2.5 micron over sterling silver, thicker than most on the market), and 9ct solid gold for our fine collection. We also use brass and stainless steel across parts of the range, always to the same high standard. Check the individual product page for the exact material used in each piece. Every piece is designed in Cape Town and made to be worn daily, not saved for special occasions.

Will the gold plating wear off?

Our 2.5 micron plating is thicker than most on the market and built for daily wear. How long it keeps looking its best does come down to how it's treated, water, perfume, and constant friction all shorten its lifespan, so a little care goes a long way. If a piece needs a refresh within 3 months of purchase, we'll replate it for free; after that, we offer a paid replating service any time you'd like to bring it back to life. If you'd rather not think about any of this, our stainless steel pieces and specified gold-plated waterproof items are made to handle water without issue, check the product page to see which pieces these are.

What's covered by warranty?

Every ORA piece comes with a 24-month warranty against manufacturing defects. This doesn't cover general wear and tear, accidental damage, loss, or natural fading from daily wear. If something's genuinely faulty, we'll sort it.

Jewellery Care

How do I keep my jewellery looking newer for longer?

Put jewellery on last, after perfume, lotion, and hairspray, and take it off before showering, swimming, sleeping, or exercising. Store each piece in the pouch or box it arrived in, away from direct sunlight and moisture, and give it the occasional wipe with a soft, dry cloth.

Can I shower or swim with my jewellery on?

We'd rather you didn't. Chlorine, salt water, and constant moisture are the fastest way to dull plating and tarnish silver, even with our thicker 2.5 micron gold plate. Take it off before you get in the water and you'll get a lot more life out of it.

How do I clean my pieces?

A soft, dry (or barely damp) cloth is all you need for everyday upkeep. Avoid jewellery-cleaning dips and abrasive cloths, they can strip plating faster than normal wear does.

Sizing & Fit

How do I find my ring size?

Check our Ring Size Guide — it has a diagram and full size chart to measure against. You can also measure the inner diameter of a ring that already fits, or wrap a strip of paper around your finger and compare it to the chart. Still not sure? Message us on WhatsApp with a rough idea and we'll help you land the right size.

What if my ring doesn't fit?

It's covered under our standard 30-day exchange policy, as long as it's unworn, undamaged, and in its original packaging, swap it for the correct size in the same style. Return shipping costs apply as per our Returns & Exchanges terms.

Can necklace or bracelet lengths be adjusted?

Our Slider Necklace and Slider Bracelet (used for Glide & Stack Charms) and our Paperclip Chain are both adjustable. For any other style, if you'd like a length adjusted before you buy, just reach out and we'll see what's possible. Check the product page for the exact length and any adjustability options before you order. Still unsure which length suits you? Message us and we'll help you choose.

Skin Sensitivity

Is ORA jewellery safe for sensitive skin?

Yes, all of our jewellery is nickel-free, so it's safe for general sensitivity. That said, a small number of people who are sensitive even to real 18ct gold, so if you know you react to certain metals, message us before you order and we'll help you pick the safest option for you.

What can be personalised or engraved?

Many of our styles offer engraving as an add-on, but almost any piece can have engraving added. If you don't see the option on the piece you'd like, just reach out and we'll see if it's possible. The main limitation is space, there needs to be enough open surface on the piece to fit the engraving.

How long does a personalised piece take to make?

ll of our jewellery is made to order, and personalised or engraved pieces take a little longer on top of that, usually around 2 extra days. Need it by a certain date for a gift? Let us know and we'll prioritise your order and do our best to get it to you in time.
